What a great beginning to our Spring concert season – last week with Glen Phillips.
In the warm and intimate setting of “the Tavern,” Phillips’ not only showed off his impressive guitar-playing and singing, including renditions of many of his mega-hits from his Toad the Wet Sprocket days, but he revealed a humor and vulnerability that helped forge a genuine personal connection with the sold-out crowd at The Maverick Saloon. That magic, which gets created when a seasoned performer meets a receptive audience, is the hallmark of Tales from the Tavern. Our next concert is Steve Poltz, Feb. 24. Poltz is, as anyone who has seen him here in the past knows, one of the greatest entertainers on Earth.
